Our client is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting & finance function  within a  rapidly growing middle market manufacturing / distribution company located in Southwest Pennsylvania.  The desired profile is an organized, aggressive, detail-oriented individual to serve as Controller / Director of Finance.    Due to steady growth over its long operating history, the company now needs to enhance its accounting and finance function in order to manage future growth.  This upgrade to the accounting and finance function will be part of the Company’s broader goal of building a cohesive executive team that operates with the support of robust accounting controls, processes and operational reporting capabilities.

 

The ideal candidate should be highly motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment with a high degree of independence and self-initiative.  The Company’s growth strategy will place significant emphasis on implementation of a new financial accounting system to (i) optimize the inventory supply chain; (ii) integrate financial and operational data from multiple branch locations and (iii) better manage the procurement / purchasing function.  This position presents an opportunity for a motivated individual to assume significant operational and administrative oversight within the Company and to gain greater responsibility as the Company grows. 

 

Qualified candidates should possess:

 

ü  A proven ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals from the other core functions of the Company (CEO/President, Operations, Sales, etc.)

 

 

ü  Experience developing and implementing streamlined accounting processes, including methodical procedures for each of the various accounting functions (e.g. Purchasing, A/R, A/P)

 

ü  Experience integrating both financial and operational data within the accounting system to create automated management reports in a real-time environment

 

ü  Experience tracking and evaluating (project-based job costing and profitability) manufacturing, distribution and equipment leasing business models  

 

ü  Experience managing all functions and personnel of the accounting and IT departments

 

ü  The ability to proactively evaluate financial and operational data and to provide relevant ad hoc analysis to supplement core financial reporting

 

ü  Experience handling lender relationships (financial reporting, covenant calculations, etc.)

 

ü  Experience developing reports using Crystal, FRX or other system-based reporting software

 

ü  Experience with previous system conversions / system implementations

 

 

Responsibilities will include:

 

ü  Oversight and management of the entire accounting, IT and HR departments

 

ü  Monthly financial and operational reports with additional supplementary weekly reporting and ad hoc analysis as needed by other executives and investors

 

ü  Automation of standard and repetitive data collection and reporting functions

 

ü  Management of budget process, including establishing and tracking both financial and operational targets for all parts of the organization

 

ü  Management of interaction with the Company’s lending relationships, investors and outside auditors
