Patriot Flooring Supply, Inc., a wholesale distributor and domestic subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., is seeking an experienced Controller to serve as the financial leader of this growing business with 2 locations in the Northeast: Pompton Plains, NJ and Wilmington, MA. In this role, you will be responsible for all finance/accounting activities at both sites to include consolidated summary and monthly reporting of the business’s financial statements (income statement and balance sheet accounting); accurate completion of the monthly and year end closing cycle process; monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and strategic plans as well as commentary on variances to plan and prior year; and business analysis and consultation to the business and sales team (e.g. price, volume and mix on sales and operating income).   In business since 1990, Patriot Flooring Supply is a New England based distributor that specializes only in hardwood and laminate flooring. Our inventory, deluxe showroom, Pro Shop, experienced sales staff and dedication to customer service has garnered for us a reputation as the largest “Specialty Hardwood Flooring Distributor” in the Northeast. With the backing of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., the nation's largest maker of hardwood floors, Patriot is poised to grow market share in the New Jersey area. This is a tremendous opportunity for the successful incumbent to come in on the ground floor and as a member of the senior management team, set the strategic direction of Patriot.   Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller has the following key job responsibilities: Oversee all transactions related to general ledger, standard costs, receivables, payables, and payroll including sales rep compensation.  Review margins and provide guidance on selling prices, promotions, etc.  Analyze Patriot’s financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs and compliance with budgets.  Review Issues regular status reports to Corporate. Assist Patriot’s management in financial planning and results management. Coordinate, prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual reports. Coordinate and prepare tax schedules, returns and information. Oversee administrative support functions at both locations: accounting, human resources, office services, information technology, facilities/maintenance, and purchasing Manage accounts receivables including credit extension, collection of accounts receivables and allowance for doubtful accounts. Establish relationships with banks and other financial institutions. Administer 401(k) benefit including contributions, loans, withdrawals, company match and compliance testing. Coordinate year-end audit as well as any internal reviews. Coordinate cycle and bi-annual inventory counts to optimize operational cash flow Arrange for audits of company's accounts. Supervise, mentor and develop employees (2 direct and 2 indirect reports). Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in accounting or finance 7 to 10 years of accounting/finance experience in a manufacturing or distributor environment Proven operational leadership, especially in implementing and supporting change Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the organization Advanced Microsoft Office skills Prior supervisory experience Desired Qualifications Graduate degree, CMA, CPA or other professional certification Proficiency with SAP, JD Edwards, Gartman or similar ERP system About Pompton Plains, New Jersey Located in Pequannock Township in Morris County, New Jersey, Pompton Plains is a place to call home.
