The National Women’s Law Center seeks Controller to manage financial reporting and analyses, internal controls, financial compliance, audit and tax functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Controller reports to the Vice President of Administration & Finance and manages the day-to-day accounting functions of the Director of Finance and Accounting Associate. The Controller is responsible for maintaining financial internal controls in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and employment and other tax principles; developing month- and year-end financial statements, including income and expense variance analyses; liaising with the development department concerning all grant and donor matters, including the development of program-specific donor budgets and expense reports and the reconciliation of grant expenditures to ensure compliance with grant guidelines; supervising filing of state registrations; reconciling operating and investment accounts and maintaining related schedules; and, overseeing the preparation of audit schedules and organizational tax filings.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a Masters degree in Accounting or Finance and at least five years of non-profit accounting and management experience. CPA a plus. Must have experience in ensuring GAAP and tax compliance, and strong accounting software experience; Solomon VI.5 preferred. Must also possess the ability to work both independently and within a team, and to multi-task within deadline with speed and accuracy. Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
