The Company and it subsidiaries provide a broad range of services including water production, treatment and distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, utility operations and maintenance services and utility infrastructure construction. Our subsidiaries are segmented into two operating groups: Our Utility Group and our Services Group.
Our Utility Group operates more than 100 water and wastewater systems representing more than 160,000 residentail and commercial connections in Alabama, California, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Our Services Group (our non-regulated operations) consists primarily of contract water and wastewater management services as well as public works and design-build-operate services. We have over 700 contracts to assist cities, municipal utility districts and other government entities in the following ten states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Georgia, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas and Wyoming.
In your position as Contract Manager, you will be working out of our offices in Austin, TX, have direct responsibility for managing all aspects of the client relationship with assigned Municipal Utility District (MUD) boards. This position reports to the Manager of Client Relations – Austin.
DUTIES:
The person in the position communicates with assigned MUD boards and ensures that boards are provided on, at least, a monthly basis information about SWWC performance within the district. This person also:
● Attends all assigned board meetings and maintains liaison relationships with: board members in the
assigned utility districts, customers within assigned utility districts, SWWC operators and maintenance crews in assigned utility districts and consultants for the assigned utility districts.
● Manages the relationship between the assigned MUD boards and SWWC and serves as the first point of contact for board members and district consultants and functions as a liaison between the board members and operation staff in resolving any issues or problems
● Performs long-term planning so that SWWC provides services in the most cost-effective manner within assigned districts.
● Monitors the financial performance of assigned districts and makes recommendations to management, as appropriate.
● Analyzes the assigned district needs to determine what, if any, other services that SWWC offers (or
could offer) would be of benefit to the district. Market the service(s) to the district, as appropriate.
● Functions as back-up contract manager for districts assigned to other contract managers. Periodically attends board meetings in other districts and performs other tasks, as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Specific Knowledge and Skills: Four-year college degree in business, environmental engineering or water management, preferred. One to two years experience in water and wastewater management. High school diploma and equivalent experience will be considered. In addition, the person will have:
● Excellent verbal and written communications skills as evidenced by the ability to interact both face-to-
face and via telephone with professional personnel.
● Excellent analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple and
diverse work tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment while meeting deadlines.
