Department:  Operations               Reports to: Supply Chain Manager

 

General Summary

Responsible for managing the planning, sourcing, quoting and procurement of a wide range of materials, equipment and services.  Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering (both sustaining and new products)  and Master Production Scheduler, while assuming full responsibility for the processing of daily purchase orders, initiation and follow-up of quotations and expediting of late deliveries.

Responsibilities will also include processing of daily work orders, initiation and follow-up of material availability for processing of kits and expediting of late deliveries.

 You will participate in supplier selection so as to provide recommendations to direct managers.  Monitor production plans and design changes to ensure product availability and minimize obsolescence and communicate supplier or material related problems back to Supply Chain Manager. 

Coordinate the resolution of all rejected material and other quality issues as required, proactively lead efforts to uncover cost reduction opportunities, manage and develop relationships with suppliers to reduce costs and improve quality and ensure on-time delivery of purchased materials. Added responsibilities include maintaining accuracy of the companies ERP system data and communicating all lead-time, unit of measure, price and part number discrepancies identified to the appropriate person. Work with finance to resolve A/P issues when required.

 

Job Responsibilities/Activities

·         Manage the planning, procurement and sourcing of assigned parts, equipment and services

·         Manage the planning and expediting of work orders, while ensuring material produced on work orders comply with the company Engineering Change Order (ECO) and deviation process.

·         Develop alternate sources for current/future product needs and technologies from a worldwide market.

·         Monitor material and supply inventories through an established computer program and system to establish proper replenishment and stocking quantities.

·         Advise management of market conditions and supply base activity, which could affect quality, delivery, or price considerations critical to company success.

·         Negotiate purchase orders.

·         Ensure that purchasing activities comply with the company Engineering Change Order (ECO) and deviation process.

·         Identify potential alternative materials and suppliers.

·         Develop and maintain a positive relationship with suppliers and coworkers.
