The Business Unit
Rexnord is a highly respected +$1B supplier of Aerospace Products, Industrial Bearings, Couplings, Gears, Modular Conveyor Belting, and Industrial Chain.
The Aerospace business primarily serves the aviation market with high performance / value-added products including Bearings (“PSI Bearings” - #1 market position in spherical bearing products), Seals (“Cartriseal” - #2 market position), and Installation Tooling (“Shafer”). Primary customers include Boeing, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, Goodrich, Hamilton Sundstrand, Bell Helicopter, Rolls-Royce, Sikorsky and Fiat. More than 85% of revenues are realized from U.S. based customers.
Brief Description
The Rexnord Business System (RBS) Manager is the lean manufacturing/continuous improvement manager based at our Wheeling, Illinois manufacturing facility. This person will provide superior tactical/strategic implementation of the lean, six sigma and RBS system and supporting programs. In this position you can make immediate contributions through enhancing the current on-time delivery (OTD), productivity, and profitability of the operation.
Key Accountabilities
Ø Improve key business metrics of OTD, productivity and EBITDA by implementing and supporting lean and continuous improvement activities.
Ø Drive the operation to reduce scrap, improve inventory turns, ensure 95% on-time delivery to customer want date, improve and sustain product availability and reduce manufacturing lead times.
Ø Promote and facilitate work flow analysis and creating/implementation of standard work to achieve improvement priorities.
Ø Coordinate and track the monthly strategy deployment activities and initiatives in support of meeting Business Metrics, Annual Improvement Priorities (AIPs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Ø Ability to influence and lead change throughout the organization.
Ø Drive “best practices” in all areas of responsibility.
Immediate Opportunities to Impact the Organization
Ø Lead efforts to reduce set-up time and increase throughput to achieve and sustain 95% OTD through the use of lean tools and key Kaizen events
Ø Assess, develop, and implement the lean manufacturing action plans to support achievement of strategy deployment and strategic business growth.
Ø Educate, engage and empower future leaders by creating and facilitating lean daily management training and development programs
Ø Active leadership in Lean initiatives and Kaizen activities.
Ø Promote and facilitate the use/establishment of continuous improvement tools.
Ø Oversee organizational participation in lean initiatives to achieve RBS metrics.
Ø Drive employee participation (including process experts) in Lean initiatives.
Institutionalize problem-solving tools to address and resolve problems.
Desirable Experience, Capabilities and Success Factors
Ø Bachelor’s degree preferably in a technical field with advanced degree preferred
Ø 10+ years Experience in a fast paced manufacturing environment with assignments in lean manufacturing/continuous improvement implementation as well as operations leadership.
Ø Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred
Ø Experience in Aerospace manufacturing with solid background in metal manufacturing environment including metal cutting and grinding highly desirable
Ø Good writing/administrative skills, including computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, Minitab, etc.)
Ø Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management
Ø Demonstrated ability to teach/train in Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen tools.
Ø Strong leadership and mentoring skills with proven ability to develop employees.
Ø Demonstrated proficiency in time and project management.
Ø Team orientation with the ability to influence others
Ø Excellent computer skills (word processing, graphics, spreadsheet, etc.)
