Our client is an award-winning retirement plan industry leader specializing in 401(k) and 403(b) plans (including Roth contributions), Money Purchase, Profit Sharing and 457 plans Traditional defined benefit, cash balance and pension equity plans, Taft-Hartley plans, non-qualified deferred compensation plans Traditional, Rollover and Roth IRAs
The Consulting Actuary will represent the company's Actuarial Services as the lead actuarial and defined benefit technical content expert when dealing with the client and internal team members. As a key member of the team, the Consulting Actuary will bear ultimate responsibility for the plan design and client deliverables related to actuarial services.
The Consulting Actuary will work with senior management to improve internal processes, procedures, templates and infrastructure for ongoing implementation.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Support company's client team and partner with Investment Specialist to deliver Liability Driven Investing solutions.
· Act as the lead actuarial and defined benefit technical content expert for assigned cases.
· Direct the client relationship on all retirement program/design and defined benefit technical matters.
· Consult on aspects of program design and the impact on program cost and administration.
· Support consultant team through peer review.
· Prepare and maintain client DB Plan Specifications and communicate changes to company team.
· Plan and lead strategic level retirement consulting projects.
· Effectively manage assigned clients, projects, and team members to meet or exceed client expectations.
· Work effectively with the client's own contacts on the plan, including client human resources and finance contacts, legal counsels, and third party administrators.
· Work to improve profitability by managing the scope and number of consulting assignments.
· Present and respond to clients and prospects as requested and as required by client services agreement.
· Assist in the generation of new business through support of sales team, including participation in team selling.
· Report on a regular basis on the progress of client work, special projects and personal growth.
· Support the Financial Analyst to prepare and send client bills and manage accounts receivable.
· Act as a mentor and role model for other company employees and assist with or provide leadership for new initiatives.
Knowledge/Skills:
· Understand design, financing, communication and administration of retirement plans, including defined benefit, defined contribution, and non-qualified plans for pension and health & welfare programs.
· High level of proficiency in actuarial and investment concepts.
· Demonstrated understanding of Internal Revenue Code and Department of Labor regulations as they apply to defined benefit plans, including ability to read and interpret such regulations and apply them to the product.
· Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment.
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize the workload of self and others, and meet scheduled deadlines.
· Demonstrated ability to provide advice and manage projects in an efficient and cost effective manner taking into consideration both benefit delivery and administrative aspects using company's best practices when appropriate.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills; ability to communicate effectively with clients.
· Ability to work well with other team members, and to provide leadership.
· Ability to provide direction and establish priorities and feedback for others.
· Knowledge of current and pending retirement plan legislation, retirement trends in benefit design and finance
· BA or BS.
· Actuarial designations: Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (F.S.A.), Associate of the Society of Actuaries (A.S.A.), or Enrolled Actuary (E.A) required.
