Construction Safety Manager

Are you a NYC Licensed Construction Safety Manager with at least 3 years experience?

If yes... then read on?

What you need for this position:

- Experience in building and/or railroad construction
- Extensive knowledge of safety/environmental principles and techniques. Bilingual a plus
- Capable of identifying known/potential exposures and recommending corrective actions
- Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Minimum 3 years experience in construction safety
- Proficient in computer skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 regulations, ANSI standards, and NYC Article 19 codes
- NYC Safety Manager License (required)
- OCIP and CCIP experience a plus
- NYCTA on MTA experience a plus

What you will be doing:

The Safety Coordinator/Site Safety Manager shall report to the Client / Director of Safety and/or Loss Control Manager. He/she will work with Project Executives, Project Managers, and Project Superintendents. It is the function of the Site Safety Manager to supervise and administer the Safety Programs outlined in the Project Safety Manual on the project. The Site Safety Manager shall ensure and promote safe work practices and safe working conditions in accordance with all Federal, State and Local rules and requirements including all programs within the Safety Manual.

- Act as a liaison between the client and local authorities and the client and contractors to ensure all safety policies and procedures are followed
- Conduct frequent jobsite inspections focusing on unsafe conditions and unsafe work behavior, and ensure that appropriate action is taken to correct deficiencies
- Establish and conduct weekly safety meetings with contractors and insurance representatives, and issue minutes of meeting; and interface with project staff and each subcontractor's safety representatives regarding safety regulations to ensure proper compliance.
- Conduct New Employee Orientation to all new employees
- Perform investigations for accident/near miss process determining root cause analysis and ensure that corrective action is taken
- Establish and maintain all job safety records
- Review each subs Safety Program and ensure that it meets the project requirements
- Communicate with the claims manager, insurance adjuster and risk managers, physicians and other medical personnel involving worker's compensation issues
- Director of Safety may add other duties as required.
