Seattle City Light’s Conservation Resource Division (CRD) is currently looking for a manager of its Marketing section to oversee the marketing functions of the Utility’s conservation and customer renewable resource programs.   As part of the Conservation Resources Division’s management team, the Marketing Manager is responsible for creating and implementing the Conservation Strategic Marketing Plan and overseeing the Division’s Marketing Team along with all related marketing campaigns, print materials, website development and content, communication tools and promotional components;   Works in partnership with the two CRD field operation managers and associated staff to identify target markets for specific programs and to develop and carryout marketing strategies, tactics, and actions that will best reach those targeted markets;   Oversees the Utility’s Green Power and Green Up program as well as management and operation of City Light’s Lighting Design Lab (LDL), the Pacific Northwest’s region’s state of the art energy efficiency lighting demonstration facility.  

The Marketing Manager has full management oversight and responsibility for the supervision, workload planning, assignments, monitoring and evaluation of 17 supervisory, technical, professional and administrative staff and will be directly responsible for an annual budget ranging from $5 to $7 million in support of energy efficiency programs with total annual budgets ranging from $20 million in 2008 to $45+ million by 2012.   This position will report to the Director of Conservation Resources.

Required Qualifications:  Significant knowledge and professional experience in marketing, communication, and branding, concepts, tools (including internet and world wide web) and practices as they apply to the delivery of energy efficiency or related programs, typically gained through 5 or more years progressively responsible assignments, 3 of which were as a manager or supervisor in a large, complex multicultural and diverse organization;  A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Public Administration, Communications or related field;  State of Washington Drivers License or equivalent.

 

Desired Qualifications:  Graduate degree in Marketing, Business, Public Administration, Communications or related field;  Knowledge of public sector organization practices, including labor relations; Excellent verbal and written communication skills;  Ability to foster and model effective customer relations;  Manage shifting priorities with minimal direction;  Manage a multicultural and diverse staff that possesses various skills; Coach, counsel, and develop employees, including those of different racial, cultural and demographic backgrounds; Provide clear expectations and directions, foster creativity and problem solving, and perform the physical requirements and essential functions of the job.
