SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under general supervision of the CDM Supervisor, review, analyze, evaluate, monitor, audit and assist in the development of Configuration Management (CM) practices. Ensure that work is performed in compliance with military, ISO, SEI CMM and the Quality Assurance Department standards.
Perform configuration management functions. This includes identification, configuration control, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.Coordinate configuration activities with quality and development engineers to include developing business rules for obtaining, collecting, and processing configuration management data.Develop Configuration Management Plans for engineering projects.Work with engineering to establish functional and physical baselines for engineering projects.Organize and input the established functional and physical baselines into the configuration management tool.Provide support and training to personnel in the use of configuration management tools used.Orient co-workers on the configuration management requirements.Conduct on-going evaluations of all development or sustaining engineering projects to assure that the tasks comply with the Contract CM requirements and that the tasks adhere to established development and test plans for configuration control.Conduct on-going evaluations of the development and installation plans required by the Contract to ensure the plans are properly documented and comply with the Contract.Evaluate corrective actions pertaining to CM assuring they comply with applicable plans and that:a. All processes and product anomalies under internal or contracting agency control are promptly reported.
b. Each CM problem is defined and an analysis is performed to identify trends.
c. Actions are initiated on problems, resolution is achieved, status is tracked and reported, and records are maintained for the life of the Contract.
d. Corrective actions are evaluated to: 1) verify that problems have been resolved; 2) verify that adverse trends have been reversed; 3) verify that changes have been correctly implemented in the appropriate processes and products, and 4) determine whether additional problems have been introduced.
Assist the Corporate Staff in the development and implementation of CM practices in support of CM efforts as needed.Coordinate and develop the practices needed to incorporate the required CM tools into the engineering efforts.Provide inputs and recommendations on functional areas of expertise as needed.In concert with the Product Assurance Manager, CDM Supervisor, Technical Directors, and Task Leaders; establish CM practices for each development and maintenance effort.Evaluate the controls used on the internal distribution of deliverable hardware and documentation.Develop with assistance from the engineering staff test plans to test requirements for all task directives, modification proposals or other engineering or operational tasking.Assist in establishing and participate in all acceptance testing and audits.Develop the process and take actions to ensure CSIR records are maintained and current.Review and analyze items submitted to the CDM Office to ensure they meet established CM requirements and assess the actions required to ensure conformance.Develop or assist in the development of CM processes.Assist in the development of business rules and practices for using CM automated applications. Provide guidance and support to the application to applicable users. Work with other CM personnel to operate and maintain the application.Position will require extensive travel throughout the NTTR in collecting existing CM data.OTHER RELATED DUTIES:
Evaluate the Technical Reference Library (TRL) and the Electronic Data Management System (EDMS) to assure that configuration items submitted comply with established criteria, the Contract and approved CM plans. Ensure the most recent authorized version of materials under configuration control are clearly identified and input to the TRL or EDMS. Ensure previous versions of materials under configuration control are clearly identified and controlled to provide an audit trail that permits reconstruction of all changes made to each configuration item.Provide reports to the Product Assurance Manager and CDM Supervisor as required.Work closely with Data Management and Quality Assurance to assist in the continuous improvement of the Product Assurance Department.EDUCATION OR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.At least four years experience in configuration management and one year in quality assurance/testing.Working knowledge of military (i.e., MIL-STD-480 series and MIL-STD-973), ISO, CM, and SEI CMM standards.SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.Ability to read, interpret and comment on technical documentation.Ability to establish and maintain accurate records and files.Ability to coordinate and prioritize a variety of activities and projects.Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in oral and written form.Ability to maintain good interpersonal relations with others.Ability to travel as required.LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION:
