We are currently seeking a Software/Firmware design engineer to add to our abilities of providing the most innovative solutions in our industry. A Software/Firmware Engineer not only designs software solutions and maintains existing software, but also partners with all cross-functional business teams such as marketing, support, test, manufacturing, and sustaining engineering, to deliver world-class solutions from inception through end-of-life

Must demonstrate consistent logic, rationality, and objectivity in decision making skills. Must be able to achieve balance between quick decisiveness and slower, more thorough problem-solving approaches. Must be able to effectively and efficiently plan, organize, and budget time and other resources such that key priorities remain the focus of daily work while details of development are not overlooked. Must be able to generate new and creative approaches to solving age-old software problems centered around performance, memory, scalability, reliability, supportability, usability. Must be able to take calculated risks when developing solutions so as to controllably push the limits of software design as it relates to product delivery. Must be able to seek out and seize opportunities for improving the overall software lifecycle as it applies to SpectraLogic library design and to go “beyond the call of duty” to find ways to surmount barriers to software product delivery.

Basic Qualifications: Junior to experienced level software engineering and development skills from conception through delivery are required. The ability to work from objectives, translating those into specific tasks and deliverables is required. Must be proficient in writing firmware and/or software using C/C++, shell scripts, Perl, etc… Experience with C# and .net are a plus. Experience with the Microsoft WinCE operating system. Exposure to the concepts and workings of software revision control systems is desired. Must be comfortable working with hardware as well as software—especially the interfaces between the two. Must display a professional demeanor, exhibiting an ability to communicate with a wide range of individuals including non-engineers.

Education:
BS CS or BS EE with a strong focus on software and firmware development.

Travel:
This position is projected to have up to three weeks of travel per year.

Status:
Full Time, Direct Hire Exempt Position
