Summary:

The Compliance Manager formulates and administers a compliance program designed to ensure that their assigned business unit achieves optimum compliance with all applicable consumer protection and privacy laws, regulatory requirements and bank card association rules and regulations. This includes US and applicable non-US consumer lending laws. The Compliance Manager has the responsibility to review departmental policies and procedures and make recommendations for change, develop and coordinate training and initiate changes to process maps and procedures due to new or revised regulations. The Compliance Manager will also assist in managing department projects that involve compliance issues – systems or processes – and interface with the IT organization as a departmental subject matter expert (business analyst) as well as assist the Governance Department as necessary.

• Extensive knowledge of federal and state consumer protection, privacy and banking laws and regulations required.
• General knowledge and application of MasterCard and VISA rules and regulations.
• Five years minimum experience at a financial institution or bank card operation working with compliance issues.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively implement and manage programs within the department and effectively communicate business needs to IT.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage the flow of compliance information and multiple projects at one time.
• Solid interpersonal skills to manage and interact with associates and managers throughout the organization and the bank card associations.
• Ability to understand technical documents and legal or regulatory reference materials.
• Ability to apply creative problem solving to compliance issues.
• Ability to effectively balance the regulatory requirements with interests of the department and its customers.
• Solid project management skills.

Complexity of Work: Moderately routine; general policies applied. Some decision-making.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or university in Business preferred.
