Position: Compensation Manager

Reports To: Vice President, Rewards

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to support the design, implementation, and administration of the North American region base and incentive pay programs to ensure external competitiveness, internal equity and compliance.

Key Accountabilities: 

Under the direction of the Vice President, Rewards to analyze current or new plan designs and administrative practices for competitiveness and cost effectiveness. Recommends enhancements or changes to compensation programs to improve administrative procedures, workflow efficiencies, and/or align programs to achieve company goals. 

Functions as project manager for annual merit and incentive programs and processes to include setting up and deploying software, developing timelines and communication plans in partnership with the Vice President of Rewards and business in the region. Develops and maintains user procedures and guidelines. Manages and coordinates other programs such as stock grants and other executive compensation elements. 

Assists the Vice President of Rewards in analyzing/resolving compensation related issues raised by HR managers and managers within the organization. Reviews and evaluates job descriptions, consults with management on job families, career paths, job design and job description language, and educates/provides on-going training to associates on base salary and incentive programs. 

Assists in the development of HR/Rewards metrics and develops processes to collect data necessary for the metrics. Also assists in the analysis and interpretation of the metrics. 

Maintains the job description and job evaluation data base for North American regional positions. 

Participates in or conducts salary and incentive pay surveys. Analyzes survey data and maintains a survey data base. Develops relationships with local and industry compensation groups. Communicates with company management to develop a knowledge base of corporate operations, job design and job responsibilities. 

Manages the secondment process for the North American Region. 

Works with HRIS to ensure the system meets compensation needs and is updated to reflect changes to salary structures, incentive programs etc. Ensures reports are available, developed, and/or maintained to administer base and/or incentive pay programs. 

Assists in preparing confidential information to support efforts such as corporate reorganization, mergers and acquisitions as well as due diligence requests.

Key Skills / Knowledge:

Experience and knowledge of all elements of compensation including design of annual, long term and sales incentive plans. Strong experience and knowledge of job and job family design, position description development, and the evaluation of positions.
Strong capabilities to perform base pay and total cash compensation analysis and to transform market data into meaningful information.
Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to effectively communicate with all levels in an organization.
Leadership and effective people management skills.
Strong presentation skills to present to all levels of management.
Strong project management skills that includes developing project plans and managing functions and people at all levels of the organization through the project
Proven organizational skills, including balancing multiple responsibilities and effectively meet deadlines.
Strong proficiency with Word, Excel and PowerPoint; previous HRIS experience a plus.
Proven ability to work independently.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education or experience equivalent to a four-year degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field. In addition, the following skills and experience are required:
A minimum of 5 years experience in Human Resources working with compensation related programs. This includes compliance related functions, and possessing the fundamental knowledge required in the analysis, design, and/or administration of base and incentive pay programs
Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred
