State Auto Insurance Company, an eighty-seven-year-old, A+ (Superior Rated) property-casualty insurance company has an opening for an experienced Loss Control Specialist to work from their home in the Charlotte, NC, Richmond, VA, or the Baltimore, MD area and handle an eastern United States territory. This position is responsible for providing loss control services and working on projects of a moderately complex and unusual nature through risk evaluation and consultative risk improvement service for multiple lines of business and a specialty service (e.g., Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Construction, Large Fleets, HPR, etc.). This position is also responsible for the coordination of multi location accounts for a specialty line of business. Overnight travel will be required.
Qualified applicants should possess 5 to 7 years of loss control experience. Excellent capabilities in conducting risk evaluations of moderately complex and sophisticated risks are necessary. Excellent understanding of risk improvement services of moderately complex accounts is required. Very strong ability to provide safety consultations and develop effective, result oriented actions plans to improve loss potential on moderately complex and/or specialized accounts is also necessary. Very strong overall technical knowledge of industry trends, developments, current standards and regulations in a specialized area is required. Applicants should also possess strong training, presentation, analytical, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. A BA/BS in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering, Science or equivalent work experience and a Professional Industry Designation (e.g., CSP, ALCM, CFPS, ARM, etc.) is preferred.
