Hiring: Direct Hire, Full-Time, Permanent Employee (NO Contracting or Temping)

Our client is seeking a Coatings Specialist in their Charlottesville, Virginia location to support a number of programs involving organic coatings, inorganic, and hybrid coatings.  The position will be responsible for coating formulation development, application, and characterization.  The Coating Specialist will investigate new resin chemistry, additives, binders, and other fillers to improve performance of corrosion resistant coatings, environmentally responsive coatings, and electronic and electromagnetic coatings.  Coatings will be applied by roll, brush, or spray and characterized for film build, cure time, adhesion, wear resistance, accelerated corrosion, etc.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, possess excellent written and oral communications skills, function well in a dynamic cross-disciplinary environment, and be able to think independently to solve problems.  The candidate must have recent experience conducting hands-on research in the areas of coatings, adhesives, sealants, and/or polymeric nano-composites.  Specific experience developing materials for end-use applications is advantageous.  Experience with environmental health and safety and waste handing is also a plus.  A BS in Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, Coatings or related discipline and 3-5 years experience is required.
