Client Description:
Our client is a progressive medical technology firm whose focus in the field of personalized medicine, prospective health care, and disease risk assessment assists medical experts detect early onset of disease states and offer guidance in personalized treatment decisions. Our client develops a state-of-the-art tools that provide clinical decision support by identifying and leveraging the factors that predict a patient’s likelihood for experiencing disease or adverse events and the subsequent risk/benefit of alternate therapies.
Opportunity Statement:
The Clinical Product Manager (CPM) will participate in the research, design and creation of new oncology-related clinical risk prediction tools for use by health care professionals. The CPM will organize and conduct medical literature searches, expert focus groups and surveys, prepare presentations that describe the need for decision support in specific clinical areas in collaboration with company statisticians, obtain and research clinical databases used to develop models. The CPM will also support the customization of study protocols, data analysis and publication of validation results for the oncology clinical suite. Further, the CPM will use his or her in-depth knowledge of oncology to interact with researchers, physicians, and other members of clinical care teams.
Responsibilities:
The CPM will foster the advancement of current medical technologies by:
· Serve as the internal staff expert on oncology product development; key liaison with external oncology experts.
· Lead the product development of diagnostic & prognostic risk assessment tools.
· Conduct background research on market opportunity, including market assessment, channel readiness and model feasibility.
· Communicate key clinical concepts, both internally and externally, in support of the development and commercialization of company products.
· Collaborate with Business Development to in-license or develop clinical databases.
· Work with physicians, software engineers and statisticians regarding the design of the company’s user interface and model offerings.
· Assist in the management of alpha, beta and clinical trials validating the company’s Oncology Platform.
· Participate as needed with other cross-functional areas in the marketing and post-market surveillance of products.
Essential Requirements:
· Knowledge of oncology, including:
o Understanding of fundamental diagnostic approaches.
o Familiarity with medical (chemotherapy, etc.), surgical and radiation approaches to treatments.
o Knowledge of chemotherapy-induced side effects (anemia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, etc.).
o Experience within medical practices, including understanding the clinical workflow.
· Basic understanding of epidemiology, biostatistics, decision sciences or diagnostics/laboratory sciences and clinical research.
· Ability to examine, manipulate and draw conclusions from clinical data.
· Ability to interpret and summarize medical literature.
· Good communication skills – able to effectively summarize and communicate complex clinical concepts to a diverse audience.
· Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Preferences:
· Basic experience working with data, using statistical software packages such as SAS, SPSS, STATA or R, and with spreadsheets or databases.
· Familiarity with decision support in a clinical setting, including risk modeling.
· Familiarity with new genomic, metabolomic, proteomic, and imaging approaches.
· Experience with clinical research protocols and clinical trials.
· Understanding of test performance metrics (sensitivity, specificity, ROC…)
· Understanding of study design approaches to assess diagnostics/ prognostics.
· Proven ability to develop good relationships with health care professionals and other team members.
· Passion for making a positive impact in health care.
