Functional Description: The Claims Manager is a key manager who supervises a diverse staff of about ten people responsible for data entry, claims processing, mail room operation and document control. The incumbent maintains a strong working relationship with the out sourced claims processing unit utilized by the account.The manager also has direct and important relationships with the NM Medical Assistance Division, the account client, and external vendors.The Claims Manager is also responsible for developing and maintaining a strong working knowledge of New Mexico Medicaid policy particularly in the area of claims payment. The incumbent reports directly to the account deputy manager and provides advice to both the deputy and the account manager about issues impacting the direct responsibilities of the manager and other areas of account operations.This position is critical to maintaining a strong relationship with the client and the health care provider community in New Mexico. Education and Typical Years Experience: Experience in claims processing, Medicaid programs and supervision preferred.Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.Supervisory experience preferred.
