We are currently looking for a Claim Technical Specialist, Cargo - Northland.  Please read on for more details regarding this position.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

SUMMARY: 

Experienced level handling of Cargo claims.  Resolve high level/complex liability and coverage issues on cargo claims.  Supervise litigation by selecting staff or panel counsel and controlling expenses to assure effective resolution.  Provides assistance and guidance to other claim professionals on recovery issues.

 

 

PRIMARY JOB DUTIES:

 *  Handle all aspects of Cargo claim files in all 50 states to properly investigated for liability causation/damages and coverage.

 

 *  Outlines and directs investigation required from others. Performs parts of the investigation on large or complex cases. Is a resource for other claim professionals on all cargo related issues. 

 

 *  Refers case to attorneys and retain the primary responsibility to coordinates activities of claim handlers, attorneys, and other experts on these cases.

 

 *  Negotiates settlement with tortfeasors and/or other insurance carriers. Appears at trials to give evidence and assist with presentation of recovery case. 

 

- Effectively manages ULAE and ALAE expenses to promote competitiveness in the marketplace

- Travel to mediations, trials and industry related conferences and training.

- Periodic customer, agent, underwriting visitations to assist in marketing.

- Maintains all appropriate adjuster licensing and continuing educational requirements in appropriate states.

 

KNOWLEDGE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: 

* Knowledge of  Transportation industry

* Knowledge of Cargo & Commercial Auto insurance policies, property insurance law, salvage markets, CARMAK, BMC32 preferred

*Heavy equipment experience.

*Prior claim experience preferred.

*Proficient in basic computer skills and products.

*Keyboard skills and proficient in Word and Excel.

*Licensed as required by state regulation

*4 year college degree or equivalent work experience.
