Position is part time, temporary, on-call with no benefits associated with it.
This position includes a 90 day minimum assignment in Reston, VA monitoring/reviewing subcontractor design packages for tower/footer designs in Southern Arizona. Possible self-design requirements for same. Plans, researches, develops, and designs for new or alteration of structures, buildings, earthworks, and other facilities such as roads, bridges, irrigation projects, tunnels, pipelines, water and sewerage systems, waste disposal units and similar civil engineering projects. Performs, or directs the performance of complex engineering assignments involved in the research, design, and development of an overall project comprised of a number of integrating components, systems or sub-systems. Establishes project requirements based upon study and analysis of operational objectives and relationship with associated projects/programs. Originates engineering plans, ideas, schemes and techniques, as may be required to direct the efforts of assigned personnel to achieve desired results and objectives. Provides construction management oversight on projects. Maintains liaison with other engineering and scientific organizations to keep abreast of developments in allied fields or programs, and coordinates group activities with those of other engineering groups. Evaluates engineering progress, developments and findings, to assure technical adequacy to meet operational demands and conformance with established standards and practices. Plans, programs, and directs the activities of lower level engineering personnel to assure maximum coordination of effort within the group. Interacts with senior management and senior customer representatives; may lead a cross-functional team. Performs all other duties as assigned. Resolves problems that are complex in nature. Problems may extend across multiple disciplines or functions. Limited guidance available. Integrates a range of inputs into job performance; includes supervisor inputs, task and project requirements, and a range of theories and concepts. Significant customer influence on technical issues. Decisions normally affect the achievement of goals critical to the organization. Communication typically occurs at either one level above or one level below within or outside of the organization. Recognized emerging authority at SBU/site. Performs wide range of technical assignments requiring special qualifications, including structural design and analytical skills, formal project management, field construction, and working in project matrix environment.
Basic Qualifications:
BS degree in engineering or applied science with a minimum of 8 years of directly related, applicable experience. In lieu of formal education, 16 years of directly related, applicable experience. Candidates for interviews shall present a portfolio demonstrating and substantiating their experience, technical capabilities, project management experience, and ability to meet position requirements. Ability to obtain and maintain DoD like clearance. Travel may include both domestic and international short-term assignments depending on project requirements.Desired requirements:
