Odwalla is a leading national brand of nourishing food products, including fresh juices, nutritionally fortified juice belnds, food bars, and spring water.  We are currently seeking a full-time, experienced Citrus/Puree Buyer.  This position will be based out of Dinuba, California.

As the Citrus/Puree buyer your responsibilities will include:

·          Responsible for the negotiation, purchase, and delivery of all fresh fruit, tanker fruit juice, and frozen purees, as required, in accordance with overall purchase strategy.

·          Coordination with various qualified suppliers to supply raw materials within the constraint of budgets, quality standards, delivery dates, and other criteria applicable to daily and long term demand, ensuring continuous material supply.

·          Provide point of contact for all grower and broker relations with respect to supply, quality, and procurement requirements.

·          Evaluate new sources of raw materials, regions, and markets to develop purchasing strategy aligning with overall business plan.

·          Keep abreast and react to new technologies and developments related to raw materials, market changes, and industry conditions.

·          Develop long term strategies related to fresh fruit, tanker juice, in order to manage risk.

·          Communication to supplier base all legal, regulatory, specification, and quality standards set for by Odwalla, Inc.

·          Assist in annual budgetary process and cost savings initiatives.

·          Develop new sources of raw materials to support overall business plan and sales lead initiatives.

Qualified candidate will have a BS degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3 years purchasing experience in a production / manufacturing environment.  Knowledge of HACCP in a food processing environment is preferred.  Effective verbal, electronic, and written communication skills.  Must have specific knowledge of farming practices, packinghouse operations, market conditions, agricultural practices, and local regulation related to citrus.  Must be computer proficient including but not limited to mainframe computer systems.applications including MS Office, Excel and, Word.  Must be able to work flexible hours and able to travel.
