CITY: Loves Park STATE: Illinois COUNTRY: USA Essential Functions (Responsibilities): Leads projects and initiatives with broad scope and high impact to the business or is a recognized expert in the aerospace embedded controls field. Responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. This role contributes to the overall strategy and manages complex issues within functional area of expertise. * Gain in-depth understanding of all existing product line platforms & architectures in order to develop and drive product architecture framework, standards, and development environments for engineering execution. * Determine & drive vision for future platform development to deliver a better-integrated product portfolio in more cost-effective manner, maximizing opportunities for commonality across product lines. * Interface with multiple organizations to resolve products and determine appropriate application of our technologies. * Work closely with business unit leaders (P&L) and Software staff to ensure P&L and customer needs are met. * Maintain good communication and relationships between software engineering, engineering, configuration management, software quality assurance, program management, and customers. * Work with PLLs to develop product plans and technology plans to support future product development. * This position will require mentoring and development of junior software engineering staff. Qualifications/Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science or Engineering. * At least 5 additional years of experience in embedded control software for flight critical applications. The following skills and experience are required: * Extensive requirements based software development experience to DO178B Standards. * Extensive experience with software architecture definition, requirements decomposition, structured design, development and verification/validation. * Significant Level A software development experience. * Experience with mathematical modeling of control systems. Desired: * Additional experienced in leading remote and global teams is preferred. * Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering is preferred. * Six Sigma Black Belt certification is preferred. * Firm understanding of the software development process with focus on certification processes. * Experience with control laws and the development of software for the control of pressure, temperature, and flow in pneumatic systems. * Experience with the following: Doors, TMS320F28xx family of devices, Simulink, Flowmaster, AMEsim. * Strong oral and written communication skills. * Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. * Demonstrated ability to set a vision, communicate, and drive toward it; ability to lead and inspire teams. * Executive level presentation skills. * Capable of successfully handling shifting priorities and customer needs in a fluid, fast-paced services and product development environment.
