Mid Atlantic Spine, a multi-specialty pain management group practice, is seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Director of Operations to ensure compliance and smooth functioning in all areas of clinic operations, including managing fiscal, human resources and administrative activities.
Mid Atlantic Spine is a well-recognized group practice specializing in the treatment of spine and pain related disorders since 1995. The practice is staffed with a team of board certified physiatrists, chiropractors, and licensed practitioners who provide individualized treatment for patients in a very compassionate and caring setting. A wide range of services are provided, including the medical management of a variety of spine and pain syndromes, therapy, electrodiagnostics, imaging, and interventional procedures. The group is the main training site for a large metropolitan university teaching hospital ACGME accredited pain medicine fellowship and is actively involved in ongoing clinically oriented research. The group has office locations in Delaware and Maryland, provides radiology imaging services, and has a separate ambulatory surgery center.
Position Summary:
The primary function of the Chief Operating Officer (COO)/Director of Operations is to plan, direct, manage, monitor, coordinate, control and continuously evaluate the operations and support service activities of the group practice. This is to include all clinical, ancillary, quality, facility/lease and information technology operations and functions. The position functions as a leader of the administrative staff in setting overall administrative direction and ensures positive medical group relations. The COO/Director will develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure high-quality, efficient and cost-effective patient care. The COO/Director will also be responsible for complex analysis, organization development, and strategic planning. He/she will provide direction for operations and establish internal and external relationships to assist in accomplishing the above tasks. The COO/Director will also have responsibilities with the Delmarva Surgery Center scheduled to open in May. Additionally, this position is accountable for compliance activities and acts as the compliance liaison reporting to the Medical Director of Mid Atlantic Spine. Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a MBA or MHA or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in a health care system setting, or large mixed physician practice organization, with direct management experience and demonstrated accomplishments in fiscal oversight and staff management. The successful candidate should be action-oriented, enjoy working hard, looking for challenges, have extensive knowledge of group practice management and third-party reimbursement, and management of research and grant activity. In addition, the candidate should possess excellent oral and written communication skills and strong leadership abilities, be a team builder with experience in growing organizations, and have the ability to connect staff both on an individual level and in larger groups.
