The Courtyard by Marriott at Yale is located in New Haven, CT. It is adjacent to the Yale Campus in historic York Square.  The hotel is newly renovated and offers 160 guest rooms and suites.  Amenities include a restaurant and lounge, 24-hour business center, fitness center, and meeting facilities for up to 150 guests.

 

The Courtyard by Marriott at Yale is one of the seven Newport Hotel Group properties. All of the Newport Hotel Group hotels are located in New England, are newly renovated and are operated by the organization.

SUMMARY

The Chief Engineer has supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; performance appraisals, addressing performance related issues with employees.  They will also ensure that the hotel is a safe place for guests and employees.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

*  Coordinate with other departments all work necessary to maintain general conditions, safety and health standards set forth by hotel policies and other legal requirements.

 

*  Provide direction for interviewing, hiring, counseling, training, and disciplining for engineering employees, in coordination with the Human Resource Manager.

 

*  Directly supervises all maintenance issues related to the operations to provide efficient services and comfort to employees and guests.

 

*  Maintains both the exterior and interior of the hotel, including painting, cleaning, aesthetic repairs and additions.      

 

*  Schedules repairs and maintenance with the General Manager so as not to interfere with hotel operations.

 

*  Oversees ongoing and emergency repairs requires to keep the hotel and restaurant/banquet areas in a marketable condition at all times.

 

* Recommend possible projects for future capital budgets. Obtain bids, supervise, and coordinate contractors in performance of project work.

 

*  Maintain own and hotel's special permits and licenses as required by local authorities.

 

*  Control schedules, staffing, and payroll. Compile personnel records, logs utilities and keep engineering records.

 

*  Ensure that all performance reviews are performed in a professional and fair manner in compliance with the company's guidelines.

 

*  Maintains and updates the MSDS sheets to insure the safety of employees.
