Description: Eaton Corporation located in Galesburg, MI has an opening for a Chief Engineer - Software Engineering in its Truck Center of Excellence!!

This position will lead a distributed team of software engineers providing high quality tested modular software solutions to multiple project teams. The individual will manage the component portfolio to ensure reuse while meeting Truck project needs.

This position will be responsible for:
- Technology Development
- Product Maintenance (R/1000 Improvements and cost reductions)
- Product Applications (Understanding and controlling product applications)
- Product Improvement (resolve issues, improve robustness)
- Process Improvement (shorten time-to-market, improve efficiency, robustness, repeatability)
- Strategy Formulation (Five-year product timeline and "roadmap" to success)
- Participate in internal and external customer interface and support
- Product portfolio management (minimize proliferation, manage modular platform approach)
- Software project management (metrics, project planning, tracking and reporting)
- Software quality - lead the review process
- Modular software portfolio management
- Software model, design, implementation, unit test
- Software process documentation and training
- Software tools environment definition and improvement
- Software process champion - CMMi process activities

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will possess a four-year Bachelor of Science engineering degree in a field such as Electronics, Computer Science with formal studies in software engineering; A Master degree is preferred.
The ideal candidate should also possess the following:
- Minimum 5 years experience in automotive, truck or aerospace engineering design.
- Design and development of new or improved products.
- Experience in managing complex software projects. More than 3 years as a software project leader with responsibility for planning, tracking, metrics and reporting with a track record for on time delivery of complex systems projects.

The candidate should also have skills in:
- Requirements capture, analysis and management
- Object Oriented Design methods in embedded applications
- Software architecture design
- Software unit and integration testing on host and target
- Static Analysis tools
- Design of modular reusable software elements

Preferred Specialized Knowledge:
- Knowledge of the methods and tools used in the design of software (modeling tools, auto-coding, UML and SysML tools), control theory, system analysis, programming and drivetrain knowledge.
- 7-10 years experience in, or strong knowledge of, heavy-duty truck or automotive drivetrain/powertrain systems and/or components
- Working knowledge of manufacturing processes used in the heavy duty truck and/or automotive drivetrain/powertrain components industry.
- Customer interface experience preferred.
- Management of a geographically dispersed team
