CHICAGO DIRECTOR OF LEGAL RECRUITING – The Chicago Bar Association, in partnership with Legal Association Search & Placement, is seeking an experienced legal recruiter to direct our new statewide CBA Placement Center (www.cbaplacement.com). The Chicago Director of Legal Recruiting will have substantive input into, and primary responsibility for implementing the Placement Center's recruiting strategy to serve our 22,000+ members and the Illinois legal community. This individual will have direct responsibility for client recruiting and will lead and oversee all lateral associate, partner and in-house attorney recruiting efforts as well as paralegal and legal support staff recruiting. This position reports directly to the President of Legal Association Search & Placement.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Recruiting Responsibilities:

* Direct responsibility for local, state-wide, and national recruiting, by sourcing, interviewing and negotiating compensation with clients and candidates.
* Establish and cultivate active relationships from the 22,000+ attorney members and non-attorney legal professional that are seeking career assistance, negotiate client agreements and fees, prepare retainer agreements, regularly review and assess agreements to ensure ongoing effectiveness.
* Regularly advise and consult with President on all legal hiring matters.
* Increase CBA Placement Center brand recognition within the legal community.
* Attend CBA conferences and events in order to network with potential candidates and clients.
* Gather and analyze competitive data regarding recruiting strategies and processes used by competitive services.
* Attend Placement Center retreats and prepare semi-annual presentations on legal hiring.

Management of Attorney and Support Staff Recruiting Operations & Staff:

* Develop and manage the annual budget for legal recruiting operations and personnel in Chicago.
* Assist in the recruitment and training of future Chicago recruiting staff.
* Work in conjunction with future Chicago metro recruiting teams to oversee all hiring on a state-wide basis.
* Supervise, manage and evaluate recruiting staff.
* Devise and manage appropriate training programs for all recruiting staff.
* Meet regularly with recruiting staff, keep all staff informed and involved regarding recruiting activities and issues.
* Create a positive working environment and structure for recruiting staff that promotes productivity, responsiveness, local and cross-office teamwork, high staff morale, motivation and excellence.

Qualifications:

* Bachelors Degree required, Masters or JD preferred.
* 5+ years of legal or professional recruiting experience.
* Established recruiting relationships with law firms and corporate legal departments in Chicago and Illinois metro's.
* Excellent organizational and written communication skills.
* An effective team player.
* Proven record of successful leadership demonstrated by examples of persuasive internal and external communication and effective recruiting.
