Position Description:

Headquartered in San Ramon, California, and conducting business in approximately 180 countries, the company is engaged in every aspect of the oil and natural gas industry, including exploration and production; refining; marketing and transportation; chemicals manufacturing and sales; and power generation. Chevron Oronite Company in Belle Chasse, Louisiana is currently searching for a Process Chemist to be responsible for providing support for Quality Assurance (QA) testing of Lubricant Oil additives. This position will be located in our Oak Point Manufacturing Plant.

Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities: •Process Chemist support. •Method Development. •Staying apprised to QA testing of lube oil additives via general laboratory instrumentation which includes but is not limited to ICP, GC, Kinematic viscosity, FTIR, nitrogen (ASTM D5291 & 5762) and physical and EPA water testing. Required Qualifications: •Master’s Degree in a Science related discipline, Chemistry preferred. •Demonstrated understanding of general laboratory procedures and the associated chemistry related to them including ICP, FTIR, GC, automated titrations, viscosity, nitrogen via chemiluminescence and flash analyses, etc. •Knowledge of Lube Oil Additive quality control testing methodology and instrumentation is a plus. •Experience using Laboratory Information Management systems such as StarLims is a plus. •Proven ability to work effectively with a diverse work group. •Demonstrated ability to clearly understand and communicate requirements to work group such as prioritization of analytical work, delegating work direction or managing training plan for direct reports. •This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
