Job Title: Chemical Process Engineer

The Chemical Process Engineer designs and implements manufacturing methods, techniques, processes, and tooling for fabricated compounds, reagent kits, subassemblies, and final products. Interfacing with Development, Quality, Production, Purchasing, and Suppliers; provides technical support and leadership in new product development projects. The incumbent coordinates the release of new products and enhancements to existing products; participating in design reviews, conducting DFMA and design for Six Sigma analysis, concurrently developing product structures and process architectures. Additionally the incumbent will maintain understanding of laboratory process technology changes and implement new process capabilities to maintain business competitiveness. This role will provide technical support for the internal and external suppliers of Beckman Coulter Discovery products specific to chemistry and reagent processing. The Chem. E will participate in the selection of new suppliers and resolution of technical issues. Additionally the incumbent will ensure manufacturing process documents are created and training implemented in compliance with company standards, ISO and GMP. The Chemical Process Engineer possesses an understanding of departmental goals and business objectives to prioritize daily work schedule in an effort to establish the best cost and economic process for product availability.

 

Minimum Qualifications include:

- BS in Chemical Engineering with 5 years experience in process development and process architecture required. Understanding and experience in value engineering, design for excellence and project management skills required.

- Experience in Life Science instrumentation with an emphasis in Biochemistry process tools e.g. Capillary electrophoresis and High Performance liquid chromatography needed.

- Formulation experience (scaling up design to production) desired with ability to lead PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis) reviews and problem solving teams.

- Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing concepts and methodologies experience preferred Key Competencies include: Management and Technical Know-how Teamwork Effective Communications
