Albemarle Corporation is seeking a Chemical Engineer - Process Design for its Baton Rouge, LA Location.

Job Responsibilities include:

Process Scope Development and Process Design for commercial chemical production processes.  Design safe, reliable, environmentally friendly and economically vialbe processes that deliver a quality product. Conduct preliminary process designs and evaluations to prepare scopes for potential cost and profit improvement capital projects such as existing plant expansions, new process plants and large cost reduction projects.  This involves exchanging information and communicating with Marketing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Equipment Suppliers, Research and Development and other groups as needed to reach agreement on the project scopes.  Develop preliminary PFD's, equipment lists, process and equipment descriptions, raw material and utility utilization and other support information needed for preparing capital estimates and project economics. Conduct detailed process designs including the preparation of PID's, material and energy balances, process simulations, permit calculations, process hazard analysis reviews, equipment and instrument specifications and other process information needed to complete Basic Engineering Packages for capital projects. Participate on Project Teams made up of Engineering, Manufacturing and others working to complete the Engineering Design and Startup of new production processes.  This involves reviewing equipment, piping and layout drawings, preparing control and interlock logics, developing sequence and graphics descriptions, writing commissioning and operating procedures, and preparing process manuals for the project. Communicate with, travel to, and provide technical support to operating plants worldwide to implement improvements, troubleshoot problems, or help increase production, reduce costs, improve quality, or reduce environmental impact.

Essentials Qualifications:

BS Chemical Engineering degree

3 to 10 years of chemical process experience

Process Design experience preferred.

Demonstrated ability to interface with team members from other departments (Operations, Business, HSE, etc).

Strong written and verbal, communication and leadership skills
