Location where services are to be performed: NIH – Bethesda, MD.

 

Hours: All shifts available

 

 

Certified Nursing Assistants need to provide clinical care under the supervision of a registered nurse.  The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

 

Assists patients with activities of daily living such as grooming, bathing, and meals.Assists the patients or other health care team members with prescribed interventions such as ambulating, therapeutic exercises and dressing changes using aseptic technique. Performs collections of specimens such as sputum or urine for clinical or research care.  Ensures safe handling and delivery of various specimens in accordance with prescribed protocols.Obtains and records in the Clinical Research Information System (CRIS) vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, height and weight and reports abnormal findings to the registered nurse. Assists healthcare providers in performing diagnostic and or therapeutic procedures. Uses a variety of patient care equipment such as automated blood pressure device and patient transport devices.Performs a variety of functions in support of direct patient care services. Assists with scheduling appointments, providing information to patients as directed by the professional or registered nurse, maintaining safety and cleanliness of a unit and stocking or ordering of medical supplies as directed.Participate in the performance improvement programs as required to meet JCAHO standards.

 

Units or programs of care include Critical Care, Pediatrics, Med-Surg, Oncology, Behavioral Health, Operating Room, and Radiology.

 

 

Qualifications:

·        Nursing Assistants must possess a current, valid and unrestricted certification to practice in the state of Maryland.

·        Shall be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate with all patients and other health care providers.

·        Have at least 2 years recent relevant clinical experience in direct hospital- based patient care.

            Basic skills in computer applications
