Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center is a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education.

Process, sanitize cages and related equipment in automated cage washing equipment and sterilizers. Assemble cages. Perform routine maintenance procedures and make adjustments to equipment. Prepare water bottles using an automated bottle filler. Receive, transport, store and label animal feed and bedding.

Provide husbandry to all species in conventional and specialized animal suites. Assist investigator(s) as needed. Implement policies and procedures regarding animal health checks, sentinel animal, environmental monitoring, inadequate cage card as described in standard operating procedures. Record information as required. Report all facility-related problems to supervisors.

Clean work areas including floors, walls, ceilings and lighting fixtures.

Participate in on-the-job training required to develop new skills, learn new techniques and implement new policies.

HS diploma or GED and at least one year of experience required. Employee must understand the basics of animal health & disease, the procedures required to clean/sterilize caging and must be familiar with use & operation of equipment required for animal housing and care.

Certification by AALAS as Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT).

Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, able to communicate effectively, able to lift and carry 50 pounds and must able to climb and work from ladders and platforms.
