Basic Purpose:
The Category Development Manager for Boehringer Ingelheim Consumer Health Care will provide consumer insights leadership, category expertise, supply chain management, analytics and be in direct contact with the account on a routine basis working directly with the National Account Director.  This position will focus on driving business solutions via information based selling using customer/IRI POS data, consumer/shopper insights and by facilitating the category management business process.  This role will also be responsible for interpreting the brand strategy and aligning it with each customer's objectives.   This position will serve as the primary contact to retail partners in the mining, interpretation, and delivery of consumer insights, category research, and marketplace trends.  This role will manage the consumer and retailer Research process and budget.

Requirements: 

-BS/BA Required

-Minimum 5-7 years analytical experience in consumer packaged goods

-Detailed understanding of retail analytics, economics, and consumer insights

-Understanding of the consumer packaged goods trade environment

-Ability to multitask and manage aggressive deadlines

-Excellent communication skills (written/verbal)

-Can function in a team environment

-Experience and knowledge of syndicated data sources (IRI/AC Nielsen), market basket data, consumer insights, and panel information

-In depth experience in retailer supply chain

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
 Support and collaborate on customer development plans to include objectives, goals, strategies, tactics and measures. Provide leadership in the development and application of a consumer insights strategy.  Identify key consumer research opportunities and provide direction to MRD sources to provide in-depth investigation, assessment and recommendation of action plans resulting from research findings. Work closely with Account  Director and retailer modular planning to provide insight based modular recommendations for product assortment, placement,adjacencies, and segmentation.  Lead the development of market and ethic opportunity assessment through intense analysis of market, community, and store level demographic profiling.  Combine with syndicated data support (Spectra) to execute logical promotional efforts by brand size and type to capitalize on findings.  Key focus will be placed on identifying Hispanic and AA opportunities for BI brands. Develop co-marketing programs with customers based on strong consumer, category, and retailer insights.  Develop best-in-class promotion evaluation and modeling tools to perform "what-if" assessment with consumer, market, competition, pricing, merchandising, seasonal, and brand/sku as variables.  Perform detailed promotional analysis to improve executions. Provide ongoing and detailed assessment of retailer supply chain to include in-stocks, days of supply, inventory position, GMROII, Maintained Margin, inventory turns, and sales.  Provide a weekly assessment of supply chain scorecard to Account Director and retailer replenishment.  Deliver fact based recommendations to improve supply chain integrity to retailer and BISC contacts. Primary liaison between customer team, trade marketing, and Marketing providing retailer analytics, consumer insights leadership, and category expertise. Develop a retailer specific fact-based brand level go-to-market strategy that includes acquisition and retention targets, market level opportunity analysis, demographic profiling, media assessment, market basket analysis, key consumer insights to be applied to modular planning, pricing, promotion, distribution, and new item launch efforts. Pursue leading edge consumer insights and analytical thinking through continuing education and inclusion in Analytics and insights user groups (RL User Group)
