Catholic Healthcare West (CHW) is the eighth largest hospital system in the U.S. with over 40 hospitals and medical centers in California, Arizona, and Nevada.

The PFS Cash Applications Clerk is responsible for posting, reconciling and refunding to patients and payers for all CHW patient accounts. This includes both electronic and manual processing for posting, reconciliation and refunding.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum of one year experience related to cash posting, reconciliation, and refunding processes within a multi-facility environment required. Prior experience with electronic deposit and posting process required. Previous experience in patient financial services operations with specific focus on cash application processing required.

The responsibilities of the Cash Applications Clerk include:

1. Performs cash application functions and processes relevant to the Patient Financial Services area in a manner that meets or exceeds key performance criteria.

2. Maintains thorough and detailed knowledge of collection laws and third party payer claims processing and ensures compliance with state laws regarding all cash processes as evident through cash collections.

3. Demonstrates an understanding of state insurance laws and the various appeals processes including but not limited to Insurance Commission filings.

4. Coordinates all insurance benefits, rejection/denial processing, and appropriately posts information for collection and follow-up activity.

5. Responsible for cash balancing and reconciliation of bank deposits and communication between internal and external customers.

6. Continually seeks to understand and act upon customer needs, concerns, and priorities. Meets customer expectations and requirements, and gains customer trust and respect.

7. Functions effectively within a team and participates and contributes constructively to produce results in a cooperative effort.

8. Demonstrates ongoing enthusiasm and commitment to the work assigned.

9. Works with Supervisor, Cash Applications to receive feedback on performance and create a personal development plan.
