Knology is currently seeking a Cable Splicer for our Knoxville division to perform splicing and maintenance of fiber, coaxial and twisted pair cable facilities and equipment.  If you enjoy working outside rather than in a beige cubicle and have demonstrated knowledge of wiring schematics, fiber diagrams and twisted pair assignment, this role is a great match for you!

 

General Requirements:

2+ years of recent experience in maintenance, construction and/or repair of copper and fiber cable facilities. Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license and an acceptable driving record. Driving record of successful candidate will be verified through the state's driver's license bureau. Must be able to visually identify all colors used in various cable. Must be able to handle extension ladder (75 lbs.) and manhole cover (150 lbs.). Completed basic courses in basic electricity, pole climbing, cable splicing/maintenance, basic cable transmission, cable air pressure or equivalent job experience. Must be able to climb poles, use a shovel, pick and other tools to dig and repair cable. Must be willing to assist and work with both aerial and underground crews.Working knowledge of test equipment to perform standard troubleshooting activities. Demonstrated knowledge of wiring schematics, fiber diagrams and twisted pair assignments.

 

Candidates must successfully pass a background screening, including alcohol, drugs, motor vehicle report and previous employment verifications.
