General Information

This position reports to the Manager of Supply Chain Services working with the support team. The successful candidate will process requests for goods and services and procure them in a timely and cost-effective manner consistent with client needs, specifications, utility and life cycle. The successful candidate will be customer focused in supplying all Supply Chain needs within TransCanada, and possesses a working knowledge of sound procurement practices and their respective applications in the acquisition of assigned commodities.

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

-         Provide oversight of procurement activity consistent with the client's specified needs;

-         Clarify issues, answer questions, provide options for clients at all levels;

-         Provide concise, timely and effective information/solutions to clients and provide updates and follow-up when necessary;

-         Execute Purchase Orders and expedite delivery where necessary;

-         Obtain quotes, negotiate prices and determine lead times;

-         Provide information to clients as they relate to - Sourcing initiatives, policies, procedures and systems/tools utilized in acquiring goods and services;

-         Provide information, reporting and resolution for: Account Payable issues Equipment trade-ins/ surplus Reconciliation of errors Supplier Scorecard participation etc.

-         Process requisitions for the supply of goods and services;

-         Provide Supply Chain guidance to internal clients on the acquisition of goods and services;

-         Plan/manage work load in the Management Operating System (MOS);

-         Ensure assigned contracts are fully managed;

-         Provide clear communication of decisions to clients and senior management;

-         Develop and manage RFQ/RFI, RFPs and material and services agreements.

 

Qualifications and Education

Qualifications/Competencies required:

-         Strong and proven customer service & negotiation skills

-         Excellent knowledge of policies and procedures pertaining to Supply Chain Management and the Avantis procurement application

-         Proficient in PC applications

-         Knowledge of all internal services available to the Client

-         Ability to work independently and within a team environment

-         Ability to plan, organize, and manage time effectively

-         Communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)

-         Ability to manage change

-         Problem solving and analytical skills

-         Capacity to acquire knowledge of and utilizing the latest market trends

-         Ability to follow established processes and proper authorization controls

Education/Experience:

-         University/College (4 year equivalency program) graduate in a business management or applied technical discipline with 2 years of direct experience in the profession

Or

-         Business Management or technical diploma with 4 years of direct experience.

Or

-         Equivalent combination of education, experience, and continuing professional development in a relevant discipline.

 

The ideal candidate will have some formal training through ISM.
