The role of the Buyer is to participate in developing and to execute the product strategy by managing and evaluating his or her departments to achieve sales and profit goals.

Identify Opportunities and Risks to maximize business:
Manage goals and analyze Product Performance Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly and Year to Date Manage Assortment Plans to Achieve Revenue and Margin Goals Build and Execute Overall Assortment Plan and Like Items ManagementChoose Product Mix that executes the Product Strategy by:
Managing and Optimizing the core assortment Identifying New Product Needs that support the Product Strategy Identifying and Recommending Products to Discontinue and Developing Exit Strategy Developing and Manage Growth Strategies for Core Vendors Maintaining Awareness of Competitive Landscape and completing Competitive Market Research Testing New SKU’s that support the Product Strategy Contributing to Hindsight ReviewsVendor Relations and Compliance:
Communicate Vendor Compliance Manual to Vendors Maintain, Manage and Develop Vendor RelationshipsProduct Communication
Review Samples for Approval to Ensure they Meet Standards Proof Catalog and Web Copy Content for Accuracy Provide pertinent product knowledge and sales information to operations and HR for insertion into product and sales training programs Provide key selling features to Marketing Responsible for Internal Sales Campaign (sells it to our sales team)Other
Supervises Assistant Buyer Other duties as Required5 years experience as a buyer in retail 4 year college degree or equivalent experience Strong analytical ability Able to effectively negotiate and persuade Detail oriented Able to work in a fast passed, rapidly changing ambiguous environment Demonstrates strong oral and written communication stills Willing to take imitative and accept accountability with a strong sense of ownership over work and results.
