Business Development Manager

 

DRS Sustainment Systems Inc., Florence Operations, is seeking a Business Development Manager.  The

successful candidate will be responsible for the development of business opportunities related to

Environmental Control Systems. Identify and qualify new opportunities, develop and lead capture planning

activities, interface with customers to determine customer requirements and preferences, and  take

responsibility for booking new business.

 

Brief Description of Duties:

 

Identify and develop opportunities to sell Environmental Control Systems and related products and services to both the Government and large defense prime contractorsAnalyze existing and anticipated customers requirements and promote consideration of company products and services to fill such requirementsParticipate in the preparation of sales plans, business plans, capture plans, and product development plansDevelop contacts with existing customers and create and execute a cold calling plan to develop new customersCoordinate with other functional departments (Engineering, Manufacturing, Program Management, Finance, etc.) in the development of competitive proposals Deliver presentations to potential customersAttend tradeshows, conferences, symposiums, etc in order to network and maintain updated market intelligence

Special Skills Required:          

           

§         Thorough understanding of Government budget cycle, source selection and acquisition processes

§         Understanding of organizational structure of DOD and non-DOD program offices with interests in environmental control systems.

§         Must possess current relationships with some combination of US Army/Navy/USMC/Air Force program offices and understand their respective acquisition processes in relation to capture of Environmental Control Systems R&D and production business.

§         A broad understanding of Environmental Control Systems technologies, including an understanding of the subsystems and components, is desired.

§         An understanding of how the military end users employ the Environmental Control Systems is desired

§         Experienced with international business development, including understanding of ITAR and utilization of foreign representatives and partners is a plus.

§         Must have a thorough understanding of a typical DoD industrial manufacturing and engineering environment

§         Knowledge and experience also desired in a formal capture plan processes and development of Market and Business Area level strategies

§         Strong interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills

§         Understanding of Government contract types

§         Must be able to develop or manipulate management tools developed using the Microsoft Suite of applications (i.e. MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Access, MS Project).

Education and Experience:

BS/BA; Degree in Engineering would be a plus. Experience with a Defense Company in developing business opportunities related to environmental control units, heating systems, chillers, refrigerated container systems, etc. is desired.
