BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

 

This position’s primary responsibility is to identify sales opportunities in Tech’s selected market segments at the earliest possible stage and assure that the project’s stakeholders, such as Owners/End Users, Architectural Firms, Developers, Construction Managers and General Contractors, are informed of Tech’s systems, technologies, products, and service offerings that will benefit the End Users by protecting their people and property and facilitating communications between their employees and with their clients thereby helping their business grow and prosper. In conjunction with other members of Tech’s sales team, this position moves projects from the discovery phase, through the sales process, and on to a successful sales conclusion resulting in a lifetime customer and also resulting in profitable business for Tech, growth and increased market share.

 

Essential Functions:

·         Plans, organizes, monitors and controls the education of assigned accounts, construction customers, market influencers and selected End User Customers of identified sales opportunity projects to maximize their knowledge of Tech’s systems, technologies, products, and service offerings in order to protect their people and property and facilitate communications between their employees and with their clients and help their business grow and prosper and all of it also resulting in Tech’s market growth and market share

·         In conjunction with members of Tech’s sales team, maintains business contact and relationship with project stakeholders throughout the project and monitors the project’s progress from the discovery phase, through the sales process, and on to a successful sales conclusion thereby generating profitable business for Tech

·         Achieves harmonious business relationship with the customer, Tech’s sales, operations, service and support

·         Creates demand for Tech’s systems, technologies, products and services

·         Maintains Prospective Projects pipeline by continuously updating Tech’s Long Term Sales and Marketing Report

·         Conducts annual meetings with small groups of customers to listen to their concerns or needs and identifies areas of improvement required for Tech from the voice of the customer.  Ensures that the Construction SBU Manager, the End user SBU Manager, the Executive Vice President and the President are involved with such customer feedback sessions

·         Assists in developing strategic partnerships and joint ventures that strengthen product and/or service visibility and position in Tech’s selected markets

·         Joins and actively participates in key industry organizations or other industry or customer events in which Tech’s representation will assist in creating sales and marketing opportunities by developing new customer relationships; examples include associate membership to BOMA, MABOI, Missouri Fire Marshall’s Associations, AIA,AGC, Engineer’s Club, etc.

·         Joins and networks with all construction market’s representative associations to raise awareness of Tech’s products and services and position Tech as the preferred provider of construction communication systems and services in design-build, negotiated and competitive bid projects

·         Cultivates relationships with potential referral sources including the fire officials, architectural and other communities of specifiers and influencers

·         Represents Tech Electronics in a professional and ethical manner at all times

Requirements:

·         The qualified candidate will have the following education and/or experience:

·         Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field or construction management

·         High Technical Expertise

·         Construction Market, Players and Protocol
At least 5 years of demonstrated business-to-business successful selling experience with a confirmable track record of increasing responsibility and improving results.

·         Experience with a long, complex sales cycle where multiple decision-makers are the norm would be ideal

·         Experience in Construction Business is required

·         Familiarity with Construction protocols, engineering, architecture or other related fields is required

·         Established contacts in the STL – region Construction, Engineering, Architectural, Educational, Health Care, Commercial and Industrial marketplace would be most attractive

 

He/she will also posses the following skills/abilities:

·         Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities with minimal supervision

·         Ability to clearly and concisely present information in one-on-one and small group situations

·         Strong results orientation

·         Ability to interact effectively at all levels

·         Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves

·         Ability to prepare professional correspondence, proposals, etc.
