The Economist Group owns, manages and develops global media brands aimed at an audience of international business people and decision-makers. It is the leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs, delivering its information through a range of formats from newspapers and magazines to conferences and electronic services.

The key focus of the Business Development Manager position is to sell multi- and single-sponsored services, such as surveys, white papers, conferences, custom meetings and on-line services such as webcasts, and advertising within the designated territory.  Manage the entire sales process (prospect, qualify, proposal, negotiate and close) and work effectively with other functions within the Economist Intelligence Unit and across The Economist Group. This position will require about 40% overnight travel.

Requirements:

University degree in a business related discipline 2+ years experience selling conference sponsorship and advertising programs, both traditional and on line Previous sales experience in North America Ability to sell to senior management of Fortune 1000 companies Expertise in managing high-level client relationships Familiarity with research and editorial processes Negotiation skills, particularly in matching client needs with editorial capabilities Microsoft excel and salesforce.com  Working knowledge of MS Office and Salesforce.com Ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid, team-oriented environment Strong analytical, administrative and organizational skills, as well as strong communication skills both written and verbal
