To further expand our business, DRS Intelligence & Avionic Solutions, Inc. (DRS IAS) located in Dayton, Ohio, has a requirement for a Business Area Manager.  Founded in 1986, DRS IAS is a division of DRS Technologies, a $3B corporation with nearly 10,000 employees nationwide. It is a growth-oriented company supporting the Department of Defense as a prime and a first tier subcontractor.  DRS IAS designs, develops, and manufactures avionics systems, flight safety products, tactical radios and intelligence equipment used by the United States and friendly foreign military services. The Business Area Manager will have full responsibility, authority and accountability for all programs and IR&D projects in the Tactical Radios business area.  Position duties include:

 

·          Provide oversight of programs and IR&D projects relevant to tactical radios

·          Ensure execution and closure of programs

·          Manage direct reports outlining project plans, designating responsibilities of personnel and establishing authority.

·          Provide status reports and briefings on program activities to upper management

·          Work with Program Managers to develop staffing requirements for current and future programs in accordance with time limitations and funding

·          Generate/maintain product roadmaps and strategic plans

·          Work closely with Business Development, Engineering, Finance and Contracts in the identification and capture of new tactical radios business opportunities

·          Provide frequent interaction with customer and user community.

·          Participate in proposal preparation for new/follow-on efforts and contract/subcontract negotiations.

·          Review program proposals or plans in determining time frame and funding requirements and allocation of funds to various phases of the program.

·          Occasional travel will be required (approximately 20%-25%)

 

EDUCATION:  BS in Engineering required.  MBA and/or PMI certification strongly desired.

EXPERIENCE:  15 years minimum combined experience in management and engineering of avionic systems for the military/defense industry.  Tactical radios experience strongly desired.  Strong written and oral communication skills a must.

 

Candidates must be U.S. citizens.   Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
