FINANCIAL SKILLS Prepare and keep to schedules and budgets resulting in on-time, profitable projects Participate in AE billing decisions and bill preparation assuring high collection rates and retention of clients Delegate work to junior staff Contribute to the financial success of the organization CONSULTING SKILLS Participate in developing creative, strategic, proactive and technically correct advice to clients both in special situations and in your day to day responsibilities Display strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to articulate complex concepts Actively participate in client meetings to gather information, establish needs, clarify expectations, develop strategy and obtain feedback Ensure quality services are provided to clients (e.g. compliance with the peer review policy established for the practice) Contribute to advancement of the firm by seeking to learn and share best practices Keep abreast of developments in the field and at your clients so that you maintain your technical, professional expertise and can be timely and informed in your advice to clients. BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT SKILLS Readily identify client needs and opportunities to introduce or cross-sell Buck and ACS products and services Participate in proposal drafting and new business presentations Contribute to Buck?s thought leadership initiatives, promote visibility of Buck and develop contacts through speaking engagements, publications and other participation in industry and professional associations. Demonstrate knowledge of the market and competitors, and what sets Buck apart Strive to achieve a connection with clients and prospects Network ? keep in touch with people as they leave clients, audit or law firms or elsewhere to help you in business development for the firm. PEOPLE DEVELOPMENT SKILLS Assist in interviewing, recruiting and hiring high quality staff Mentor and train staff, continually focusing on developmental opportunities Network within Buck (including other offices) demonstrating support and respect of Buck peers Conduct meaningful performance appraisals of direct reports. Take appropriate action, when necessary. Lead a highly efficient staff with high chargeable time Professional Credentials Buck strongly supports the attainment of professional credentials by our staff. This is vitally important to the company, our clients and to the candidate's career development. Buck?s practice standards will specify which credentials are required for performing certain client services. To become a Director, someone functioning as an actuary must be enrolled and you are strongly encouraged to become an Associate or a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries. If you work primarily with governmental plans, you must either be enrolled or be an Associate and you are strongly encouraged to have both as well as become a Fellow in the Society of Actuaries.
