Posts charges / payments accurately and timely. Verifies the number of encounter forms / charge slips with the number of patients listed on the daily schedules and pending and arrive reports. Proactively identifies and works practice edits, as assigned. Understands the revenue cycle, including, but not limited to edits, rejections, and department specific billing issues. Understands the specifics of in-patient / out-patient billing and procedures.
Is able to accurately and consistently interpret and readily explain various health insurance plan coverage's, benefits, and patient responsibilities. Ability to interpret patient self pay amounts and accurately collects outstanding balances. Performance has direct impact in UPHS meeting Revenue Cycle improvement and bad debt write-off targets.

High school diploma or equivalent, associates degree in healthcare preferred. Three to five years healthcare business office experience. Demonstrated experience of direct involvement in healthcare insurance (commercial and/or government products) coverage and benefit determination and billing/collections activity required. Demonstrated customer service experience required. Workman's Compensation and/or auto no fault experience preferred. SMS and/or IDX experience preferred.
