The Health Information Specialist will be responsible for responding to public inquiries about women’s health by providing referrals to free resources. Provide breastfeeding peer counseling to women needing assistance with breastfeeding issues. Responsible for entering accurate data of all calls to the 1-800 number. Research new women’s health resources for the addition to womenshealth.gov resource database. Review available women’s health publications for content accuracy, and timeliness. Write and perform data entry of brief content descriptions of publications and organizations. Provide feedback on content and design of web-site and print products. On occasion, travel to and represent the Office on Women’s Health (DHHS), womenshealth.gov, and girlshealth.gov at consumer health fairs and health professional conferences.EducationBachelor’s DegreeExperience1-3 yearsSpecific SkillsCustomer service experience. Knowledge of and interest in women’s health issues with the ability to critically review consumer health information for scientific accuracy. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Must demonstrate computer proficiency and experience w/ using MS Word, Internet Explorer, MS Excel with the ability to run reports, queries and produce documents. Bilingual Spanish/EnglishDesired SkillsHealth science background. Solid understanding of and ability to absorb medical terminology. Familiarity with U.S Department of Health and Human agencies, and their programs.
