Description: This is an extremely unique opportunity with multifaceted financial and operational responsibilities within one of the BBC's business units. The Finance and Business Operations Manager will be responsible for the overall financial and operational management of CovX Research LLC. Responsibilities include financial accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, internal controls, capital budget planning, contract/outsourcing compliance, purchasing, information systems and facility management.
Position Responsibilities
- Lead role for the accounting/finance, procurement and site operations functions at CovX
- Maintain accurate financial books and records for CovX from a GAAP accounting perspective
- Deliver monthly, quarterly and annual financial information (including variance analysis) to senior management at CovX and to Pfizers BBC Headquarters
- Manage internal budgeting process at CovX, including: establishment of annual expense and capital budgets, creating/reviewing department and company-wide variance reports, and monitoring expenditures vs. budget/forecast
- Provide oversight for contract compliance including management of Confidentiality Agreements, Service Agreements and non-vendor agreements.
- "Provide oversight role regarding: facilities contract service providers (general maintenance services, housekeeping, pest control, excluding laboratory management), as well as domestic and international shipping, receiving, mailroom, etc.
- Liaise with finance counterparts across Pfizer Global Research and Development where CovX may be collaborating on projects, ensuring charges are recorded properly, commitments are kept and proper controls are in place
- Manage site-level vendor contracts for outsourcing, equipment service contracts, etc.
- Lead the capital equipment budgeting and management process; establishing and monitoring the site-level budget, ensuring projects are capitalized appropriately, validating and managing the physical asset inventory, etc.
- Maintain oversight/approval authority for payroll, accounts payable, outgoing wire transfers, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations
- Participate in the establishment, implementation and monitoring of internal controls and policies to ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and other statutory requirements (Sarbanes-Oxley)
- Lead CovX through Pfizers periodic Corporate Internal Audits, as well as year-end audits with the Companys external auditors
- Develop, maintain and administer the site-wide Business Continuity Plan
Reporting & Organizational Relationships
- Report to BBC Finance Director
- Liaise with PFE corporate groups as required

Education:
- BS/BA in Accounting
- Advanced degree a plus
- CPA, CMA preferred
Experience, competencies and skills:
- 5 plus years experience in finance
- 3 plus years of experience in Pharma/Biotech industry preferred
- Excellent knowledge of SOX controls
- Management experience in an accounting/finance environment
- Experience with Ariba a plus
- Expertise with Microsoft Office applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
