BAS Technology - SENIOR CONSULTANT POSITION SUMMARY As companies become increasingly dependent on information technology (IT) to conduct daily business activities, they need software, infrastructure and experienced personnel to help meet the daily challenges of implementing and managing a secure environment. Grant Thornton's technology practice, part of Business Advisory Services (BAS), addresses these technology issues. Grant Thornton’s BAS Technology practice offers an opportunity for you to leverage your IT experience to broaden your business and project management skills in a rewarding and challenging environment. Grant Thornton’s BAS technology practice focuses on strategic planning, software selection, security reviews and infrastructure design and development to provide clients with a technology solution to meet their needs. The BAS IT Senior Associate is responsible for delivering a full range of services to clients and all phases of project and engagement management for multiple clients. Responsibilities include strategic planning, software selection, project management and infrastructure design and development, business process design engagements; developing and supervising staff; and assisting in day to day client management and practice development activities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES -Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict client confidentiality. -Run client engagements from start to finish, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing information systems and software reviews and business process control reviews and managing to budget. -Supervise, train, and mentor associates and interns, review process and assess performance of staff for engagement reviews; perform in-charge role as needed. -Evaluate and test business processes and business controls and identify areas of risk. -Apply current knowledge of IT trends and systems processes to identify security and risk management issues and other opportunities for improvement. -Work with management consulting teams to implement controls in new systems deployment. -Perform general computer and application controls reviews. -Participate in the development and implementation of Business Recovery and Continuity Plans. -Perform security and penetration studies. -Work with BAS team to identify and resolve client issues. -Maintain a good working relationship with clients to enhance customer satisfaction and work with client management and staff at all levels to perform BAS services. -Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements. -Assist partners and senior management on proposals and business development calls. -Gain comprehensive understanding of client operations, processes, and business objectives and utilize that knowledge on engagements. -Participate in recruiting efforts as needed. -Attend professional development and training sessions on a regular basis. -Perform other job-related duties as necessary. QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance with Information Technology emphasis. -Two to four years of experience at a staff/senior consultant level in a similar practice or function with a Big 4 firm, servicing cross-industry clients at a national level. Security experience or security training. -CPA, CISA, CISSP, or CISM license/certification a plus. -Areas of expertise should include at least some of the following: ERP implementation, access control software, security architecture and administration, Internet use/firewalls, network security awareness and enforcement, security policies and standards, operating systems (Windows NT/2000, UNIX, AS400, Novell). -Ability to supervise staff and lead projects. -Exceptional client service and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to develop and maintain outstanding client relationships. -Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing priorities in a rapidly growing, fast-paced, interactive, results-based team environment. -Strong leadership, recruiting, training, and mentoring skills, coupled with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. -Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills. -Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications. MS Project is a plus. -Ability to work additional hours as needed and travel on a regular basis to clients as required. Additional Information:Travel Percentage: 70%
