Banking Analyst, Credit Mervyns LLC, headquartered in the San Francisco Bay Area, is a family-friendly promotional neighborhood department store offering trend-right fashions and home decor for the entire family at affordable prices. Mervyns has a well-earned reputation for its extensive selection of national and private-label fashions and housewares. We are currently looking for an outstanding candidate for this position in the Finance area of our Corporate Headquarters in Hayward, California.
Position Summary: Responsible for the analysis and forecast of cash flow, credit card related expenses, and checks. Act as backup to the banking analyst with daily cash funding and the chargeback team. Analyze current expense performance, forecast expense on a monthly basis and evaluate/monitor future programs for optimal financial impact.
Position Responsibilities: Maintain model to forecast cash flow. Work with different group to maintain up to date information for cash inflow/outlfow Monitor and analyze trends in credit and debit sales volumes and mix by payment type. Work with bankcard processors (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, NPC and Debit networks) to resolve system issues and ensure timely settlement of daily cash. Complete quarterly analysis detailing all costs incurred for all tender types. Prepare month end journal entries and ensure they meet the requirements of financial reporting and comply with accounting practices. Reconcile credit card receivable accounts. Identify and monitor chargeback trends and oversee the aging of Retail Bankcard chargebacks, ensuring all available tools are utilized in researching and disputing claims to minimize chargeback expense. Develop, maintain, and refine spreadsheet models that will assist with other revenue and expense analysis. Prepares analyses and reporting for distribution to Sr. Management on monthly basis. Special projects as requested by manager Work with internal and external auditors to provide requested data and analysis. Monitor Loan Balance to make assist in investment decisions. Maintain the Borrowing Base Certificate. Work with the Inventory group to make sure accurate information is used. Use Smart Analysis to make sure Armored and Bank Invoice charges are correct.
Position Requirements: Business degree in Finance One to three years of Treasury experience preferred Excellent analytical, communications, interpersonal and organizational skills Detail oriented/accurate Proficient in Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word Self motivate and self starter Negotiation skills Ability to work in an office environment 8+ hours a day, including use of office equipment such as PC, phone, copier machine, fax etc.
