Defense & Security Systems: Sensis Defense & Security Systems division increases tactical capabilities through advanced radar detection and surveillance integration products. Customers include the worlds militaries as well as system integrators. Sensis Corporation is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer preferably at our Syracuse, NY facilities or alternatively, at satellite locations depending on candidate capabilities. The Sensis Air Traffic Systems (ATS) Division seeks systems engineers to contribute their skills to our International Aviation Surveillance Programs. Aviation surveillance encompasses all forms of tracking where aircraft are while in flight and on the surface of airports. Techniques typically consist of a combination of primary and/or secondary radar, multilateration, and ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance broadcast). Sensis specializes in the design and deployment of these solutions, the development of integrated surveillance systems, and the fusion of the track information each creates. As a member of the Sensis Team, candidates will focus on existing programs with customers located throughout the world. Sensis systems engineers also contribute to new business development and to development of advanced capabilities through our internal research and development program. Responsibilities of the Sensis mid-level Aviation Surveillance Systems Engineer include:

  • Requirements development and analysis
  • Development of the solution alternatives that satisfy the requirements including design, make vs buy trade studies, and development of the integration and test plans by which candidate solutions can be evaluated
  • Participation in all facets of the implementation of the solution including system design, factory integration and testing, installation at the customer site, performance of integration and optimization of the installed system, system acceptance testing, documentation of the as-built system, and contributions to user training and system support and logistics
  • Creating written technical documentation and verbal presentations to internal and external customers
  • Maintaining a positive and productive customer relationship in order to meet and exceed customer expectations Additional Activities include:
  • Be a member of the technical team on multiple projects
  • Support internal and external technical reviews
  • Interface with customers
  • Clearly articulate system architecture and functionality
  • Support the generation of proposals including pre-proposal activities
  • Assist in the design, implementation and test of new and/or enhanced system architectures and functionality
  • Generate system specification/requirements that meet customer needs
  • Perform requirements allocation to hardware and software
  • Conduct/support lab and field integration
  • Support test engineering to develop the test strategy to meet the requirements listed in the Statement of Work
  • Support/perform data analysis, prepare briefings, and write reports
  • Participate in Technical Interchange Meetings between Sensis and customers
  • Assist in hardware and software troubleshooting Education Required:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems, Information Systems or similar engineering degree program. Required Skills:
  • 3 to 7 years of applicable experience

  • Experience with computer systems communications and data distribution
  • Experience with MATLAB Desired Skills:
  • Understanding of and experience with ground and cockpit aviation surveillance sensor systems
  • Exposure to DOORS
