Basic Requirements:
BS or MS in bioengineering, biology, engineering or related field. 3 – 5 years preferred experience as lab automation professional. Hands on familiarity with the operation of scheduling software, articulating arms, stacker-based devices, liquid handlers, plate readers, barcode printers, and incubators. Ability to construct and modify robotic enclosures and mechanics associated with high throughput systems. Ability to maintain and modify Visual Basic programming code as it pertains to instrument operation. Solid foundation in the performance of general laboratory protocols associated with molecular biology, chemistry, microbiology and biochemistry. Ability to communicate and collaborate with scientists and engineers in support of high throughput screening. Ability to work flexible hours that may sometimes include nights and weekends. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Preferred requirements.
Experience in basic mechanical design. Solid Works experience a definite plus. General experience as a machinist specifically in the operation of a computer assisted commercial drill mill. Experience in the integration of devices into automated screening systems. Experience in design and validation of high throughput enzyme assays.Duties and Responsibilities
Perform hands on troubleshooting and correction of mechanical, electrical, programmatic and biological failures associated with the operation of several custom high throughput screening systems. Perform routine maintenance and repair of all automation equipment. Perform the integration of new devices and upgrade and improve the operation of automation systems. Respond to equipment failures outside of normal working hours. Interface with R & D scientists and assist with the implementation of well established as well as completely novel screening methods and protocols. Perform QA and validation of screening assays and protocols and perform experiments that explore improved methodologies.For immediate response please forward your resume to justin@biophaseinc.com.
