Audiologist

Texas Children’s Hospital

Houston, TX

 

Purpose:
To identify, diagnose, and manage auditory disorders for a pediatric population from 0-21 years of age, with additional responsibilities for clinic operations, research and teaching.

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of pediatric audiology testing procedures, counseling and management. 

 

Must be able to use the following specialized equipment: audiometers, acoustic immittance bridges, auditory evoked potential units, hearing aid analyzers and fitting equipment, otoacoustic emissions devices and drills and grinders for earmold and hearing aid modification. 

 

Effective interpersonal skills are also required. 

 

Supervisory and teaching skills are needed for working with students and new clinicians.

 

Requirements: 

Master's degree in Audiology from an accredited program and a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in Audiology OR Doctorate in Audiology (Au.D).

 

A current Audiology license from the Texas Board of Examiners in Audiology and Speech Pathology.

 

One of the following is required: A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or Audiology Board Certification from the American Academy of Audiology.
