POSITION SUMMARY: As the Associate Fashion Designer, you will create & develop distinct, unique, and brand-appropriate styles that will strengthen the Boston Apparel Group and enable it to build market share. Under the direction of the Design Director, the Associate Fashion Designer will research and develop seasonal trends, fabric, silhouette, print, pattern, color and general market direction quarterly. You will work with the design team to develop trend/color boards and conduct seasonal trends/design presentations. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Work in partnership with Merchants to develop brand-appropriate collections to develop & maintain distinctive overall brand & proprietary sub-brand identity. 2. Design assortment of projects for proprietary brands to ensure consistency to target customer's image and lifestyle under direction of Design Director. Develop concept boards/stories/collections to present to Merchant team. 3. Work with Merchants to develop and select key items, colors and prints within these collections. 4. Manage collection development process with signoff from Design Director and Divisional Merchandise Manager. 5. Oversee product execution including design, construction and fit working with Merchants and Technical Design. (Creating and updating tech packages and line sheets in PLM and flat sketching in Illustrator and updating sketches/flat boards) 6. Participate in the creative process with Merchants and Advertising. Minimum Qualifications: ? Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience. ? Computer literacy/CAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. ? Must be highly creative & have an excellent sense of trends, color & prints. ? Knowledge of fabric, garment construction, pattern making, fitting & specs. ? Experience with product development a plus. ? Catalog experience preferred but not necessary.
