Centocor Research and Development, a member of Johnson && Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for an Associate Director Medical Affairs, Medical Group, Dermatology, located at Centocor Headquarters in Horsham, PA or may be field-based, in other geographic areas. Centocor Research and Development, develops innovative biomedicines. The world leader in monoclonal antibody production and technology, Centocor has brought critical biologic therapies to patients suffering from debilitating immune disorders. The Associate Director will assist in the development and conduct of a variety of Medical Affairs initiatives. In particular, this includes peer-to-peer education of practicing Dermatologists about infliximab and ustekinumab in the treatment of psoriasis and response to clinical queries from these physicians in situations where a specialist physician response is necessary. The Associate Director may assist in the development of Phase IV and Investigator Initiated Clinical Research, development of scientific publications and investigation of safety issues and business development opportunities. This person is responsible for working closely with the Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing and Sales Groups. The Associate Director will perform additional responsibilities that include to fully integrate with the headquarters-based Medical Affairs Medical Group and to coordinate efforts within Medical Affairs to address medical and scientific issues and to insure the appropriate use of all Centocor marketed products for immunologic disease; to provide clinical analysis and promulgate scientific and clinical support for expansion of market share of Centocor products for immunologic disease, primarily in dermatology. Support the immunology business in the development of promotional materials and the training of product representatives. Develop collaboration with external investigators and opinion leaders. Participate in the conception and design of phase IIIb and phase IV studies. Support the development of scholarly publications arising from Centocor studies and other relevant initiatives. Support the mission of Medical Affairs in developing product monographs and responding to written and verbal product inquiries and surveillance of product safety. The Associate Director will work closely with contacts within the company including Directors of Sales and Marketing, Clinical Research, Regulatory Affairs and Biostatistics, Clinical Scientists, Field Marketing and Sales Managers, Clinical Research Physicians. Additionally, he/she will be working with contacts outside of the company including Practicing Physicians, Investigators, Influential Clinicians, Advisory Boards, and Advertising Agencies.
This position will require a MD with postgraduate training in dermatology required. Board Certified or Board Eligible in dermatology required. Three years of clinical experience preferred. Having been involved in a managerial role would be an asset. Industry experience preferred. This position requires outstanding public speaking, organizational and interpersonal skills. Exceptional organizational and time management skills are required. This position will require 25-30% travel if based in Horsham, and, if based in the field, requires approximately 50% travel as well as visits to the corporate headquarters in Horsham, Pennsylvania on approximately a monthly basis.
